E-Procurement Solution
A typical buying organization has anywhere from hundreds to thousands of suppliers. In addition, each supplier will ultimately have thousands of customers to support. This creates a many-to-many content relationship scenario that imposes a large and costly administrative burden on both parties.
After all of the complications associated with the many-to-many or buyer/supplier-centric approaches have been considered, it becomes strikingly clear that the speedy implementations and immediate cost reductions originally expected do not automatically without a good content management.
The key success to our content management is an aggregated catalog that is created when data from multiple suppliers is replicated and integrated into a single catalog. When logically constructed, this electronic based catalog enable buyers to search across multiple suppliers and compare price and features of like products. In addition, content aggregation allows the buyers to receive decision support information, such as part substitution or service recommendations, at the point of purchase.
In order to fully leverage the benefits of aggregated content, catalog data must be standardized and enhanced using a product classification taxonomy or schema. Catalog navigation, complex searches across multiple suppliers, along with detailed transaction and supplier contacts are supported by this layer of metadata. This transformation is accomplished through the categorization, normalization, and enhancement of the supplier data.
